It is the future. Video games are dead. War has left the world polluted with microscopic autonomous robots. These drones enter the bloodstream and consume the organs and life-force of their host. This deadly disease is known as RUST. Instead of games, players are hired by the rich to remotely pilot fast nano ships to blast the Rust. These guns-for-hire are called Cell Swords.
